Short Poem-Cliffs Notes

"NaPoWriMo, 2013, Day 25"
Out of Standard: Cliffs Notes
Thursday, April 25, 2013

The Challenge:
Take your favorite story and condense it into a poem no longer than ten lines, a "Cliffs Notes" version.
Your "Cliffs Notes" should be a reflection of what you feel is most important about the story you chose.
And let me be clear here: by favorite story, I mean that book you return to time and again. Or that TV show you watch back to back episodes of on a rainy Sunday, or that song, that video game, that painting. Stories are embedded everywhere, and we all have one we hold above the others.

My favorite novel: The Butterfly's Silence
Written By: Layla El-Othman, Kowait, 2007

Butterfly's Silence

A tiny butterfly
emerges from darkness to look for
the distant horizon...

She will fly away
from that silence which may
turn her into an abused prey...

She will fly high
for the sky
is her sacred target...

  2. Love your cliff notes. It speaks of a topic I am very familiar with. I too am a butterfly that flew from abuse.

  3. Nice summing up! I hope the last stanza means it has a happy ending... (so many sad ones with abuse)
