Hello Sandy. i am so grateful that you did drop by to help me recognize this beautiful bird. I went back to the same bare tree where I saw this bird. I saw many holes in the branches. And suddenly, he came and I took several good photos of him. This time, I saw him pecking the tree by his long bill. It is strange because this tree is on the main street near our nieghbourhood. I used to think that woodpeckers live only in the forest! I will post the new photos so that you can recognize him better. Thanks for your uplifting comment about my poem. I do learn about nature from your blog and this enriches my writings since traditional haiku is interested in nature which can teach us something meaningful about human nature. much love, Rita
Rita, I would say woodpecker, too. I am not sure exactly what kind, though. I do love your poem.
